I don't usually make a habit to read men's magazines, but when Kat emailed me about getting a mention in Men's Style I couldn't resist a quick trip to the newsagent.A quick flip though this impressive quarto glossy, and yes, there on page 75, was a column devoted to food blogs with Grab Your Fork mentioned lucky last.

In a column titled "Mouse food", Chris English "trawls the top blogs of fine dining and fast food" and writes:
"Quality food writing has long been the preserve of the celebrity chef, often assisted by an army of food stylists and photographers. However, through the medium of blogging a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs armed with little more than a passion for food and a digital camera are demonstrating just how enjoyable eating vicariously though others can be. Here are five of the best..."

His list includes Saigon-centric NoodlePie (Graham's no longer based in Vietnam but he still posts interesting tidbits and links about street food cuisine); the carb-alicious EggBaconChipsAndBeans (Russell's irresistible greasy spoon quest across London which resulted in his very own book deal); jet-setting Michelin-dining foodblogger Pim at Chez Pim; and our favourite intrepid home cook hero Anthony at Man That Cooks in Perth.
Props to all, and good to see that even cashed-up style-conscious lads can't resist a bit of tasty food voyeurism.
Wow..! another worthy mention...! ;) congrats.. AG..!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the mention Helen!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Now you can honestly say that your picture's been in a men's magazine. *lol*
ReplyDeleteI do have a question. When you're featured in these magazines without knowing that they've mentioned you...does that mean they've used photos from your blog without asking?
That is so cool! congrats :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should go out and celebrate. With food.
ReplyDeleteHow flattering and well deserved. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!! Congrats Helen! Mens Style is without a doubt, hands-down the best of the male magazines. I doubt you'd be seeing anything about 'real' food in something like Ralph!! Congrats again and keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I was going to say the same as Kat O- it seems a lot of magazines mention you but they don't ask your permission? Is that a common thing ???
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!
Congratulations! You certainly are getting across a wide share of the market! My husband had his photo taken at a soccer match that ended up being used for an article in Hustler (who knew they had articles?) That was an embarrassing purchase!
ReplyDeletecongrats ;) you deserve it
