Chinese New Year: Chinatown Markets

Dixon Street, the pedestrian mall in Sydney's Haymarket area, is usually the nucleus of Chinese community celebrations.

Our Chinese New Year festivity calendar has been marked and today we checked out the first day of the Chinatown Markets on Dixon Street.

Oh, and having been enlightened on the joys of Spam omelette, Spam with pancakes and Spam katsu curry this pic's for Reid ;-P

And yes, I managed to resist the purchase.

  1. Hi AG,

    Awwwww you shouldn't have! Thanks!

BTW...did you know that Spam® did a limited edition Hawaii can? I posted it a while back....

Those are hula dancing dolls on the can along with a Hawaii original, "Spam® musubi". Hawaii consumes the most Spam® of any state in the US.

Santos, at the Scent of Green Bananas, also posted Guam's limited edition Spam® can a while back too. Here's the link to her post:

Gong Hei Fatt Choi~Love the handcarved watermelon! Sydney certainly has more CNY atmosphere than Gold Coast. It was very quiet down there. Will post about my CNY dinner soon ;-)
