Photos of Melbourne

Melbourne's laneways

It's true. Melbourne is rather cool.

Clanging trams, secret laneways, celebrated street art and a diversity of architecture. No wonder Melbourne has a quiet confidence in its signature eclectic style.

This is the final post on my Melbourne trip - a photographic essay on the joys and delights of this vibrant city.

  2. I've only been to Melbourne twice - once about six years ago for the Comedy Festival, and once last year to visit my brother, and funnily enough I recognise a lot of these places! Sure, that's hardly exciting to people who know Melbourne like the back of their hand, but I take what I can get :)

  4. Lovely pics of my fair city! :-D
The former Stock Exchange building is apparently just as beautiful inside.

Looks like Centre Place was very quiet when you took those pics - Melbourne is always interesting in those times when there's not so many people about.

  5. i love the graffiti in melbourne laneways. it's so well done and colourful, and much more accepted than in Sydney :-) late at night i came across graffiti artist painting up the roller doors with new designs. it seemed to be legal too because it was only just around the corner from the police station near degraves st and they weren't too worried.

  8. We lived in Melbourne city (little collins street) for 6 months about 10 years ago. After hubby went to work, I would stroll along the city by myself and get lost in these beautiful lane ways. This post brings back memories. Thanks! It captures the essence of the city really well. No words needed.

  14. Wow nice photo narration! Made me miss Melbourne. I really have to agree when people say, Melbourne is the Food & Art Capital of Australia. Sydney would always be a version of NY which I also like and very close to my heart. I heart Sydney :)
