I had a hard time choosing, but I'd love to do the Out of Africa tour. I know little about African cuisine and this seems like a great way to learn about the flavours and dishes. the drumming sounds like fun, too!!

ReplyDeleteMiddle Eastern treats - what wiith my bank account and travel advisories, it's unlikely I'll get to go there anytime soon! Outside of bakalava, I also don't know much about Middle East food.

I would love to do the Arabic adventure. Since I met my husband of Lebanese background 10 years ago his father has prepared lots of amazing Lebanese meals for us. He is now 80 and slowing down so I think it't time I start to deliver him some home made treats instead.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do the European Explorer . Being from India where cooking is about spices , I find European cooking very intriguing. Its more about bringing out the flavors of each ingredient and about balancing those flavors. Moreover the cooking techniques they employ elevate European cooking to an almost artistic level which I am keen to explore.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go a Taste of Asia. I'd love to knwo exactly what I am looking for when I go to the Asian grocer and not have to go and ask like a crazy anglo not knowing what they're talking about lol

I would looooove this. Definitely Out of Africa as my sister in law just returned from six weeks in Africa and is having holiday withdrawals. I have promised her that I will learn and cook an African dish for her, and I am so unfamiliar with African cuisine! Of course I would take her on the tour as well :)
ReplyDeleteOut of Africa! All I know about Africa comes from that movie, Coming To America, and I'm pretty sure Zamunda is a fictional country, lol! I've always been too intimidated to try an African restaurant, so this would be a good introduction to the cuisine and culture :)

It seems to be such an exciting place - food wise.The idea behind the tours is really a very good one - bringing communities together. I would like to do the World Fare tour, one of these days. this gives an insight into the best secret food corners witghout having to accidently stumble on one. Great for next time, when I will remember my way around

ReplyDeleteCafe Crawl- im a sucker for cafe food. from your typical BLAT to a nice berry smoothie. id do somesaults down bankstown's main street for this prize! ( thats if i can somesault after food....)

ReplyDeleteI would love to join Taste of Asia. I'm currently missing the motherland and being the poor student I am, have little means of returning. A little authentic reminder of my cultural roots, and maybe an exploration of new flavours would make me a happy, albeit still poor, student =D
ReplyDeleteI love food tours- the perfect day out on the weekend. Middle Eastern food is simply superb so I'd choose that tour! If it is anything like the Bankstown Bites Food Festival it would be fantastic. I go nuts for the dips and sweets! Yummilicious!
ReplyDeleteMiddle Eastern Treats!!! I live in Strathfield so a day out around Bankstown and Greenacre would be a wonderful way to explore my backyard and expand my culinary horizons. I would save my appetite for all the calories I will happily consume on the day.

ReplyDeleteArabic adventure - I think I find Arabian cuisine the most intimidating. I lose my confidence when ordering, that's if I get in the shop front. So this tour would be illuminating and therapeutic (not to mention TASTY!)
ReplyDeleteHmmmn. I really am not sure if I qualify for this or this can still be included. But then I want to try it out anyways. I think I'll go for the Middle Eastern Treats. I would have loved to go for the Tastes of Asia but then the date is so soon. :D
ReplyDeleteAside from my previous reason (which is due to the date) I think being an Asian, it would be wonderful to have a taste of Middle Eastern cooking. Pizza was mentioned on the events page and I think I'll be loving to have a taste of their pizza and some Lebanese treats too! This will really be exciting! *giggles* ;)

Middle Eastern treat, this would be a wonderful tour, as I have been obsessed with everything about this region, and would relish the opportunity to try and experience Bankstown.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join your tour because I'm a crazy experimental cook and have an insatiable appetite to explore Sydney and discover it's hidden treasures. Our multiculturalism is so exciting and all too often we stay in our comfort zone instead of embracing differences. I also collect recipe books and to actually see the foods I read about gives me the biggest thrill ever!

My husband and I travelled on a budget around Morocco and fell in love with the food, the people and the culture. We now live in Sydney and have tried to recreate our own Ras el Hanout spice mix, have a handcrafted tagine and treasure our silver teapot from the Sahara. We were not able to get into the middle east, but learning more on the Arabic Adventure would be amazing. Insha'Allah !!

ReplyDeleteI actually found out that I'm joining a tour to China at the end of this year! Maybe the World Fare would be more appropriate heheh! I could expand my horizons as I've never really been outside of Asia before.
ReplyDeleteWho could possible choose between so many wonderful and varied cuisines? Like a mother refusing to name her favourite child, I would choose World Fare.
ReplyDeleteSugar and spice may be nice but it's the European Explorer for me! Deli meats and cheese, beautifully prepared not to mention stupendous coffee. Swish and swirl it all down with honeyed liquor and greek baked treats. A day of heaven and scrumption delights, all found in Bankstown's streets!

Family and ritual are the main factors in African life and food is the nucleus of the African family.I'd love to experience this for myself!
