Una's, Broadway (CLOSED)
Una's at Broadway is now refurbed and open for business. I walked past here on Monday and couldn't resist a couple of furtive shots of the interior through the window. The large snake-like communal table looks a little boarding-school like, but it seems a practical and economic way to deal with the irregular party sizes of students who are sure to frequent here.

They've maintained the kitsch Austrian look and there's nary an inkling nor reminder that this used to be the old stomping ground of The Little Snail (now at Pyrmont).
Schnitzel, anyone?

Hi MrsT - The Broadway Una's is new. They have only recently expanded branches beyond their original Darlinghurst premise.
Communal tables are a funny way of threatening people's comfort zones. I suppose we really should feel more comfortable sitting next to (and eek... chatting to) complete strangers.
In my travels I've probably found Wong Kei's in London's Chinatown the most intimidating because you had to share communal round tables! There's no avoiding eye contact at all!

Hey Helen,
Aaron and I were chatting about this, and we're all going there to eat next weekend. Send me an email if you want to come along! Oh and we're going to Redoak too for some beers :-)

Hi AG,
Looks like you have two invites to eat there next weekend. =)
Make sure they pay and have a wonderful time. At least you'll now be three at the communal table.

Hi Casey - How can my stomach, er, I mean camera, resist? :P
Hi Aaron - Ahh Casey's always on the ball.
Hi Reid - Yep who would've though my social calendar would be organised via the blogosphere?
And knowing Casey's organisational skills, I'm sure we'll be numbering at least half-a-dozen... more schnitzel for everyone!
Schnitzel, beer, cabbage... there's plenty of fun in there for everyone! :P
