IMBB#14: Orange You Hungry
Orange as in orange-coloured foods or spices, or products even.
What to cook? I thought of Aussie favourites like pumpkin soup and pumpkin scones. Then I thought about orange poppyseed cake and sweet potato chips.
But then I thought, why make things difficult when you can do amazing things with basics? Like the good ol' carrot. I love carrots!
And suddenly the kitchen became an Iron Chef-like stadium when I found myself with not one, but three orange entries! No I didn't write out my menu in calligraphy, and there were no capsicum-chomping comperes to be found; but I did have a small judging panel who giggled, philosophised and critiqued appropriately.
I ended up with an international spectrum of three dishes: tarka dhal; Moroccan carrot dip and German carrots cooked in beer... yes, you heard me right. Beer. Scroll down (or click on the pics) for all the details...

Hi AG,
Allez Cuisine! =)
What 3 entries? You did good enough to make Sakai and Morimoto proud.
My entry, which will be up later today, is quite different. Initially I thought of using carrots, but you'll see what I came up with.

wow! Well done!! 3 entries!!!
The dhal looks yummy, and the dip looks lovely...I am thinking the german carrots must have went really well with beer!

Hi Reid - Hehe. Yeah I got a little carried away. I was going to make more (!!) but exercised self-restraint. I was very curious about making a carrot ice cream!
Ahhh... I dream of making Sakai and Morimoto proud! I also dream of being the giggly actress on the judging panel too =P
Still no sign of your entry. You had better hurry. LadyGoat is ultra efficient and has already posted the wrap-up!
Hi Pinkcocoa - Awww it was easy. The dip and the German carrots were done in a flash. And I didn't even need a whole army of kitchen assistants a la Iron Chef.
The German carrots were beery enough on their own! They were surprisingly tasty too.

Hi AG,
My entry was sent in but with just one photo. I tried to take another, but my camera didn't cooperate. *sigh*
I have a recipe for carrot ice cream if you want one. =)

Hi Reid - Two entries ain't far off three!
I did find a recipe for carrot icecream but didn't have the patience/time to wait by the freezer. Unlike yourself obviously!
