Chinese New Year festival launch, Belmore Park

pig

The City of Sydney's Chinese New Year Festival was officially launched at Belmore Park on Friday.

I wasn't able to stick around for the speeches and official proceedings, but a quick whip around the park revealed several food stalls and lots of New Year trinkets and toys for the kids.

As always I'm looking forward to the Chinese New Year Parade this Sunday. This colourful spectacle with dragon dancing, lions and those infectious adrenalin-inducing drums, will wind its way from Town Hall, snake through Chinatown, and finish at the Entertainment Centre forecourt. The parade runs from 11am til 12.30pm but get there early for a good spot!
