The complete list of Sydney food blogs (includes regional NSW)

Can you imagine a world without food blogs? Oh what a cruel cruel world it would be.

Following Ed's list of Melbourne food blogs published here, it seemed a comprehensive list of Sydney's food blogs was well overdue.

I've followed Ed's lead and listed them in order of commencement date which provides an interesting insight into how food blogs have really surged in popularity, particularly over the past couple of years.

If I'm missing your blog, or I have your commencement date incorrectly labelled, leave a comment and let me know. All blogs listed should be active, or have posted in the past four months.

And if you're thinking of starting a food blog of your own, what are you waiting for? Come join us now!

Hi Su-Yin - Unfortunately the list is only for food bloggers currently living in Sydney or NSW. Has someone done a list for KL/Malaysia? I'm sure the list is much bigger than ours!

Hi Chocolatesuze - You're not old, just a trend-setter. lol

Hi Simon - It is quite interesting to watch the blog list grow as the years go by!

LOL I'm starting a count of how many photos you have of my arms (so far 2 or 3?). But yay to my featured limbs in the 1st pic haha.

Awesome job Helen and you got it done so quick! All hail Chocolatesuze, the queen of Sydney Food Blogs :)

It's interesting to see the 'explosion' of new blogs around 2008. No doubt due to seeing the great work of the more established blogs. Nice list, including some new ones to check out.

Um, not sure if I qualify as a bona fide food blogger... but anyhoo its a very interesting list - more blogs to follow for me! To be honest, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a blog 7 years ago - was Suze blogging from her playpen??

Great list, I'm surprised there aren't more. Now we need to find some poor suckers to do the remaining states and Australian's farthest eastern state NZ.

You should as http://anhsfoodblog.blogspot.com/ who I think started in Sept 2005 in Melbourne but has since moved to Sydney.

Hi Karen - Ahh if you sit opposite me, then chances are you're going to figure in an action photo. lol!

I have to admit Ed gave me admin access to the Australian Foodbloggers Google Group which gave me about half the list and was a huge help [Thanks Ed!]. Searching for the first post was a bit of a task though, esp those that don't list archives!

Hi Trisha - Thanks. It's good to get a snapshot of food blogs in Sydney!

Hi Jamie - Thanks for letting me know. I've added it now.

Hi Betty - Oh we all have stalkers, but we all love commenters more, right? lol

Hi Stephcookie - I had a headstart from Ed, but the rest of the list (and linking everything) still took about four hours! The chronological order is interesting. Who knows how many we'll have in 2010!

Hi Chris - There's no shortage of reading material here, and I agree, go Suze!

Hi Belle - I think the increasingly user-friendly interfaces of blogging platforms, the general public shift toward social media and the broader acceptance of blogging have all played a role in the surge in the number of food blogs. End result? More fun for everyone! Yay!

Hi Yas - lol. Now you can surf whilst you bake in the wee hours of the morning!

Hi Holiday Tripping - Sorry, I'm not aware of any compiled list of NZ food blogs. I've tried google and haven't had much luck. Hopefully a GYF reader may be able to help?

Hi RedsGirl - I see food photos, recipes and a love of food. Yep you qualify :) And haha, yes I think Suze must've been!

Hi Ed - I was surprised too, although I did cull any that had stopped blogging 4mths ago. Maybe we have shorter attention spans in Sydney? lol.

Thanks for the tip re: Anh, and thanks also for giving me the running start on the food blog list! Great idea of yours too. Like how it pans out over time.

Hi Ellie - Happy surfing! I have to give credit to Ed who had the bright idea of giving me access to the list of Sydneysiders already signed up to the Australian Foodbloggers Google Group. It still took most almost all of last night to find the rest (and link and find start dates).

Hi Jen - It is quite fascinating to watch them grow in number. Who knows how many there'll be next year!

Hi Howard - Yeah Suze is ancient. I reckon she's had botox. For sure. lol!

Hi SoRMuiJAi - You're an old-timer. Great to see you still haven't lost the passion for it!

Hi Amaya - Not sure about the OpenID error, and yes there are so many food blogs aren't there? If only there were more hours in the day to read them all!

  • At 7/21/2009 10:33 PM, Blogger Helen (AugustusGloop) said…

Hi Zoe - I hadn't planned to include ACT, but given the proximity and size of ACT, now I'm wondering whether I should?

Hi Sneh - lol. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?

Hi Arwen - I know. If only there were more hours in the day!

Hi Evecho - It's great to see so many food blogs. Here's to many many more in 2010!

Hi Megan - Thanks for letting me know, and I've now added your blog to the list above. Happy blogging!

Hi Shanks - Ahh there's no such thing as elitism amongst food bloggers. We're all just in it for the love of food :) And I agree, there's plenty of more reading material!

Hi Penguin - Thanks for letting me know. I've added your blog to the list. Welcome to food blogging and happy feasting!

Hi Bean Sprout's Cafe - It's amazing and exciting to see the growth of food blogs. Long may they prosper :)

Hi Mat - Happy reading. Just make sure you're not surfing on an empty stomach :)

Hi Barbara - It's great to see food blogs growing in number, and I'm definitely going to have to somehow find more time to read more food blogs!

Hi Aptronym - Nah, just feel hungry! And lol, I'm still using the old version of Blogger!

Hi Srivalli - Happy reading and do think about starting your own if you're so inclined. It does give you a great excuse to eat :)

Hi Evecho - I have seen it. It's an interesting read and worth thinking about.

Hi K - I have to credit Ed with having the good sense to give me access to a list which made up half the final version. Linking them was a little painful and lol, no hail please. It hurts! lol

Hi Peter G - Lots of new reading material hey? I think your photos are still way up there though :)

Hi FFichiban - I didn't read all the first posts, but I did have much fun trying to find those that weren't listed under their Archives! lol. It took me about 4hrs after I got the headstart from Ed.

Hi YaYa - lol. Awww thanks! I feel so special! Who knows - someone might be reading your blog right now and prompted to start their own as well!

Hi food.4.two - Welcome to food blogging! Love your template and I've added your site to the list above. Glad you've been enjoying Grab Your Fork :)

wah wah wahhh, does this mean my blog isn't showing up on search engines?! I'm sure I qualify: Sydney dweller, tick, food blogger, tick... can I get on the list for next year's roll-call?! lol. Thanks for attempting the gargantuan task of collating the fooderati of NSW, great to see what everyone is getting up to and a great network forming amongst people of like-mind… or is that like-stomach?!

  • At 7/23/2009 7:28 PM, Blogger Helen (AugustusGloop) said…

Hi Kat - I did have a bit of a headstart from Ed, but it was interesting to collate all the sites. Also great to have everyone gathered in one place. Happy reading!

Hi howtoshuckanoyster - Don't worry, there's always someone newer than you. Let's hope the blog list grows even bigger and better!

Hi Veruca Salt - lol. I agree, we're spoilt for choice now when it comes to random food blog surfing. So much to read and digest (haha).

Hi Brenda - I've added your blog. You've done so well in such a short time, and I love all your MasterChef cooking posts - the Zumbo cake attempt is particularly impressive!

Hi Forager - I can only take half the credit but thank you :) Apparently Chocolatesuze started blogging even before the above date but lost her archives. No wonder she's so well recognised :)

Hi Tony - No problem, I've added your blog. Always great to have more insights into a range of Sydney eats.

Hi RedsGirl - I've added your site - I thought I'd already included it :)

Hi Y - Oh really? I didn't know that Grab Your Fork was one of the catalysts for you starting your own blog. Thank goodness you did - your desserts are amazing! And thank you, you are too kind. I think your recipes, food styling and writing are a unique combination and probably unequalled in the Australian food blogosphere.

Hi Kyle - No problems, your blog has been added. The internet is a huge place so finding every Sydney food blog is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack (or should that be noodle - haha).

Wow, what a list! Thanks so much for compiling them.

After drooling over my keyboard for years, this year I started a food blog (in January) and strangely enough I've only just started sending it out to people....so I'd love to be included if that's ok!

Thanks for all your posts, Helen. As another commenter mentioned, your posts are often high on a google search when you search for a restaurant, and I've always loved getting your take on places before visiting them myself.

Hi Leona - Yep it's great there are so many more Sydney food blogs these days. Hopefully they never go out of fashion either! lol

Hi About - Yay, another food blog. I've added your blog above and aww thanks for the lovely words about the site. It's always great getting an insight into restaurants before you eat at them isn't it? I'm sure that's why food blogs are here, and here to stay :)

Hi Anh - I think a list like this was long overdue. Great to get some kind of roll-call happening for Sydney and NSW food bloggers.

Hi Georgia - I've added your blog to the list. Can't believe you weren't already on it :) There's plenty of new reading material for everyone. Presumably lots of drooling material too :)

Hi Karen - Thanks, I've added the blog. Have noted there hasn't been a update since May 09 but hopefully it's only a brief hiatus :)

Hi Anita D - I love the idea of you and your sister running a food blog together from across the seas. Have added your blog to the list!

Nice one, Helen. You got the date right, although the spelling of my blog should be Gosstronomy, not Gosstromony.

Regardless, it's great to see where Gosstronomy sits in the Sydney food timeline. I'm back from NYC on October 3, so it'll be great to be back in the middle of Sydney food blogging.
