Una's on Broadway, Ultimo (CLOSED)
Think Una's and think schnitzel, cabbage roll or perhaps a big hunk of pork knuckle. But guess what--Una's does breakfast as well.
We're at the recently-opened Una's on Broadway which is fairly desserted on an early Saturday morning. The wooden chairs, decorated with Alpine-themed floral paintwork, look even more kitsch by the harsh light of day, but the wealth of breakfast options is hungrily contemplated.
Living up to their reputation for value with quantity, Una's is perfect for the ravenous belly.

Big Breakfast $9.20
Bacon, sausages, eggs, rosti, toast and tomato
The big breakfast is certainly that. Big. You've got your protein, your carbs, your veggies and yes more carbs. It's never too early for rosti, especially when it has that lovely golden-brown crunch on top.

French toast with strawberries $7.20
The French toast is a little disappointing although I'm no French toast connoiesseur. The bread is a little too thin / too soggy and the portion size is fairly moderate by Una standards.

Sirloin steak (180 days grain-fed) $19.40
Sure it's breakfast but who says you can't order a steak? All schnitzels and most other dinner items are available at breakfast, so there's no shortage of protein on offer for even the hungriest patron.
Apparently the banana bread ($3.00, with mascarpone and honey) is supposed to be great and they also have toasted muesli ($8.20), Bircher muesli ($6.90) and porridge ($6.90) as well.
Get high on the rosti for very low costi.

Mmm...I wouldn't mind getting up early on a Sunday morning just for that hearty breakfast set. The poached eggs look perfect. So does the rosti. I love rosti. Rosti is tasty. :)

Hi Samantha - Thanks for the reminder. I've had to abstain from this round but I'm looking forward to the round-up nevertheless!
Hi Julia - They actually serve breakfast until 2.30pm so you don't even need to get up early!
Rosti is definitely a favourite. Mmm... crispy carbs... yum!
Hi boo licious - I hope you managed to satiate your breakfast cravings. And yeah, rosti rocks!
Hi Big BoK - Glad you liked it. And your version was carb-free too! =)

hey AG . .great minds think alike!

All of you, listen to AG! Next time you want breakfast, go to Una's!

Oh my goodness, I have loved your Dine and Dish entry! I would have happily gobbled up each and every meal. As of late I've had a particularly voracious appetite, and the big breakfast (with gorgeous looking potatoes) looks absolutely perfect. Much better than the anemic hashbrowns we are sometimes are subjected to here in North America!

I don't know what rosti is (i'm guessing shredded potatoes and cheese sauce?) but my goodness it looks delicious!

Hi Tara - Thanks. So did my stomach! lol
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Hi Grommie - Rosti potatoes is indeed grated potato. It is usually mixed with a little beaten egg to bind it and then baked until cooked and delightfully crispy on top. And yes, it is delicious!
