Me, me, and a big bag of Lindt balls

Here she is. My Lindt ball booty. Last weekend, you'll recall, Veruca Salt and I headed to a one-off Lindt warehouse chocolate sale way out in Eastern Creek, where the queue to enter was half-an-hour long and jostling bargain hunters attacked pallets of unopened boxes.

But the prizes, oh the prizes...

We have since worked out that much of the stock was 60-75% off. And Veruca also confirmed that bars of Lindt single origin are available at David Jones Food Hall for $4.95 (we paid $2.00).

My personal favourite remains the bag of pack-it-yourself Lindt, sentimental because of the chaos that had to be endured to get access to the boxes of loose balls. These were priced at 20 cents each, or fill a bag for $15, meaning they anticipated most people to get about 75 balls into their bag.

Of course I had to count my record attempt at maximum value packing, a deliberated effort which resulted in 98 prized gems, making them a bargain 15.3 cents each. Woohoo!

There were some new flavours available I hadn't seen before. Raspberry ones with a dark chocolate coating (in pink wrappers) are surprisingly delicious. Orange ones (in orange wrappers of course) resonate well, and the extra dark ones (in black wrappers) are intense cocoa mouthfuls of utter decadence.

Mmm... Lindt.

I didn't even know they had bags that size! Yes, the raspberry ones are quite good aren't they?

Hi Cin - I think these bags usually contain balls filled up to 1/3 of the way and then tied with pretty ribbon.

It was only because the warehouse were trying to get rid of sample boxes of Lindt balls that it was a stuff-your-own bag. And you should've seen the Lindt balls being trodden on all over the warehouse floor. It was crazy.

15.3 cents? Is that before or after GST? You're a legend, girl. You should send the Guinness Book of Records an email! I'll have to check out the SO Lindt at DJ's and weep went I have to fork out $5 :(

mmm. i've had the extra dark and raspberry ones from the lindt cafe shop. raspberry and chocolate is one of my favourite combinations... it even works well at starbucks, don't you know? raspberry mocha frappucino! ;)

Hi Reb - I think the cost saving may be offset by me having to invest in a new pair of jeans though. lol.

Hi bowb - I agree, raspberry and dark chocolate is a great combo. I had envisioned a sweet raspberry syrup inside for some reason, or a raspberry fondant, much like the mint version.

Hence I didn't get that many raspberry--or orange for that matter. I was hunting for the extra dark, a decision I am still happy with! =)

Hi Pickles - I am very very greedy!

Hi Veruca - Yeah you should've joined the scrum. But then I got to queue hop, so ha, it all worked out. lol.

Hi Neil - Snacking on Lindt balls is a very dangerous thing. Have I mentioned my lack of willpower?!?

Total bargain!! The question is how many do you have left???

I have not had the orange ones before but they do sound tempting but have had the others thanks to Coles Myer great idea of teaming up with Lindt each year for the Christmas gifts :D

I was reading on wikipediaabout all the other flavours that they have had and so many sound yummy.

Hi Helen - That's a very good question indeed! =)

My favourite is definitely the extra dark. They are so addictive and not too sweet.

The Christmas flavour of cinnamon, hazelnut and coriander sounds intriguing. I'd love to try it.
