Victoria's Basement, Sydney

Victoria's Basement is kitchenware heaven. An Aladdin's cave of crockery, gadgets, bakeware, Scanpan supplies, knives and every other kitchen utensil you can imagine all at heavily discounted prices.

A few things which caught my eye on a quick browse with Saffron last weekend:

pastry brushes
Silicon pastry brushes

These were pretty but I went with practicality and purchased the style with a brushed metal handle. A breeze to clean off sticky oil or sugary marinades.

pb&j spreader
Peanut butter and jelly spreader

Whimsically cute but would anyone ever be bothered to actually use it--not to mention the fact that few Australians eat PB&J sandwiches.

It makes me crave scones with jam and cream every time I see it!

My credit card shudders in fright every time I walk through the doors of that place. It's evil. It's irresistable.

I am intrigued by silicon brushes. I wonder if they are any good
