A quick week-day lunch with Saffron and Rebecca at Uni Thai. Uni students seem to have an affinity for Thai food, and the simple furnishings, speedy cooked-to-order service, and bargain lunch-time prices make Uni Thai a popular pit-stop.


Chicken larb $10.90

I ignore the specials and have the chicken larb, a summer-time favourite with its light tangy freshness. There's plenty of lemongrass and just as much chilli, its heat tempered somewhat with mouthfuls of steamed white rice.


Tom yum noodle with chicken $6.90

In the meantime Saffron tucks in happily with her red curry chicken, and Rebecca, who has ordered her tom yum noodle with "extra chilli please", is soon sniffing with happiness amidst a chilli-induced endorphin rush.

Cheap. Cheerful. And 107 menu items that almost make you wish you were back at uni again.
