Menu for Hope 2007: Prize Winners

It is amazing what generosity and team effort can achieve. In December 2007, the fourth annual Menu for Hope campaign was launched with the optimistic goal of eclipsing the US$62,925.12 raised in 2006.

Would you believe that Menu for Hope 4 raised US$91,188.00? The result is phenomenal to say the least.

More excitingly, the winners have finally been drawn for Menu for Hope 2007. Congratulations to all the winners!

If you have been lucky enough to win a prize, you should receive an email from Pim in the next day or so. This email will give you the email address to contact for confirmation of your prize dispatch. If you don't receive this, then please send an email to the contact listed for your particular prize, and either use or quote the email address you provided when you made your donation.

Congratulations to everyone for making this such a successful campaign. Every donation counted toward this fantastic achievement, so well done YOU, and thanks also to all our prize donaters. Thanks must also go to Pim for her stellar efforts at coordinating this global campaign.

Where is the money going? As Pim reports:

With a special permission from the WFP, the funds raised by Menu for Hope 4 will be earmarked for the school lunch program in Lesotho, Africa. We chose to support the school lunch program because providing food for the children not only keeps them alive, but helps them stay in school so that they learn the skills to feed themselves in the future.

We chose to support the program in Lesotho because it is a model program in local procurement - buying food locally to support local farmers and the local economy. Instead of shipping surplus corn across the ocean, the WFP is buying directly from local subsistent farmers who practice conservation farming methods in Lesotho to feed the children there.

You can check out the full list of international prize winners here, but remember, as your money makes its way to the grateful kids in Lesotho, Africa, everyone's a winner.

The full list of Asia Pacific prize winners follows. If you have any further queries, please contact either Pim or I, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
