Sydney Harbour Bridge 75th Birthday

bridge toll

Happy 75th Birthday to the Sydney Harbour Bridge which opened 75 years ago on March 19, 1932.

The bridge was closed to traffic today, allowing an estimated 250,000 pedestrians to walk its 503 metre length (from pylon to pylon) in a huge public celebration.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is the widest single span bridge in the world. It's also the largest (not the longest) steel arch bridge with the peak of the bridge rising 134 metres above Sydney Harbour.
