Spanish Quarter Festival

In only its second year, the Spanish Quarter Festival seems to be a poor victim of its own success. In its first outing last year, organisers apparently expected 1,500 but were overwhelmed with 5,000 visitors. This year the crowds were again out in force resulting in painfully long snaking lines for paella, chorizo and sangria.

We had a quick look around at the stalls and the music stage, but faced with a wait of at least 30min, we thought better of it and headed to Chinatown for lunch. We were on a cracking pace for our Sydney Open trail and besides, Liverpool Street is always here--as nice as the sunny outdoor atmosphere was, we'd rather make a proper night of paella and tapas than jostle the crowds.

The Spanish Quarter Festival is held annually in November.
