Pyrmont Growers Market

I arrived uncharacteristically early at the Growers Market this month. 6.30am to be exact. For those who know me--I know, I know! This doesn't happen often!

In the bleary tranquility of early morning, the stallholders were still unpacking and setting up for the busy morning ahead...

Stallholders chalk up their signboards.

Trays of fresh figs are bathed in early morning sunlight.

By 8.26am the crowds are out in full force.

Samples from Pastabilities
The guy in the sunglasses is definitely interested! You can even see his tongue sticking out. Today's sample was apple and cinnamon dessert ravioli, deep-fried for your sampling convenience.

The Growers Market is typically swarming with dogs, prams and
Parisien-market-style wicker baskets. I'm not usually one to fawn
over cute canines but even I couldn't resist these matching cardies...

Flat mozzarella rolled with rocket, semi-dried tomato and olives from Formaggi Ocello.

Zuccherati cannoli filled with sweet ricotta from Formagi Ocello.

Noodle salad dressing, sesame sauce, yakitori sauce and
sesame dressing from Kei's Kitchen.

Japanese sweet potato and taro stalks from Kei's Kitchen.

Bonsai potato baby yam from Kei's Kitchen.

Sample tasting of boiled bonsai baby potato yams.
Quite sweet and with a firm but smooth texture.
And so cute too. Kawaii desu yo!

Tiny chihuahua. The owner's shoe is almost half his height.

Fresh Ulladulla oysters, $11 per dozen.

Impressively patterned beetroot, $3.00 per bunch.

I'm telling you... dogs are the must-have markets-shopping accessory.

Fruit tarts from Consumate

Friands from Consumate

Hi Kirsten - I never ceased to be amazed by the array of pedigree pooches at Pyrmont. And you know how they have a conossieur petfood stall, we caught a few people who almost put the petfood samples into their (human) mouths! =P

You'll have to make the next one. I'll probably bump into you again! =P

Hi SueBob - Don't worry. You didn't start your sentence with 'dude' so it's all ok =P Glad the post whetted your appetite!
